Picnic Cake

3/4 cup chopped dates
1 cup water

Boil for 3 minutes then add 1 beaten egg.

Cream together 1 cup butter and sugar, 1 1/2 tsp vanilla, 3/4 cup oil.
Sift 1/2 cup whole wheat flour, 1/2 tsp salt.

slowly combine all ingredients.  Pour into greased pan.  Sprinkle 1/2 bag of chocolate chips and 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup chopped nuts on top.

Bake at 350 for 45-55 min
